I died really hard and my mind just wasn't in it at all. I feel like I let down myself and my team... I can't change it now though so I just have to learn from it. It was just one bad race though. They can't be amazing all the time. I won't let it get me down! Like coach was saying, next race I'm going to just focus on one thing: going fast. Not letting my mind get in the way of what I'm trying to do and having fun. I'm excited for the next race actually! (Jeez I tend to overthink things.)
Sat, 21 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 20, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-20-2018.html
AM-- Morning usual and then yoga

3.5 mi 25 mins

PM-- Had to cut run short because of family at my house but still a solid run. Great way to start the day and work on my form/sprinting. Legs pretty tired after that (in combination with weights yesterday).

70 mins 9.5 mi

PM-- short run around town and then hosting the youngster meet

25 min 3.5 mi
Wed, 18 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 17, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-17-2018.html
AM-- weights and short run!

2 mi 15 mins

PM-- mid distance run

7.12 mi 55 mins
Tue, 17 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 16, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2018.html
AM-- long run w/ 5 min EZ temp then straight into 10 mins @ CV pace (+10 secs). Finish with 5*30sec hills at 1600 effort. Pretty fun run I must say. Another great confidence builder for the week! My goal is to get more and more sleep these next few days because I feel like I could've performed better if I had rested more (had to stay up for some HW... yeah I know it's dumb). But yup just keepin at it and ready for another good week.

80 mins 12 mi

PM-- normal 25 of chill past AC. Exceptionally windy today.

25 mins 3.5 mi
Mon, 16 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 14, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-14-2018.html
AM-- Aw heck yea another PR today in the 2 mile! Pr'd by like 8 seconds this time! This race was awesome. Still things to learn of course and still gonna improve. I just need to focus on lap 6 and 7. My splits were like 4-5 secs slower than other laps and if I just stay mentally tough again that's like 10 more seconds off my time! Not to mention getting good sleep (cause I didn't sleep well last night) and maybe trying like a nose strip + wintergreen to help me breathe. I'm just trying all these little things to give me racing confidence (like taking a freaking cold ice bath yesterday but it healed my legs like a babe). Anyways, if I keep this up I'll have a state Q in no time.

30 mins 4 mi of warm and cool

Today I am grateful for my mom
Sat, 14 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 13, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-13-2018.html
AM-- AC w/ some refreshing yoga. Shavasana was found.

25 mins 3.5 mi

PM-- Had the 16 today! It was alright. I felt like I pushed well but I did not PR. I think I can do better (you know I will) next time. Was crazy windy and Nathan beat me... bleh. Oh whale gonna gun the 2 mile like I always do.

45 mins 5.5 mi
Fri, 13 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 12, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-12-2018.html
AM-- Gettin huge then recovery run

15 min 2 mi

PM-- Beast and Feasts the a crazy windy run on Kick It route. Pretty fun I must say. Nathan got a gnarly bloody nose so that happened. Finished off with some strides

50 mins 6.5 mi
Thu, 12 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 11, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-11-2018.html
AM-- usual morning past arctic circle

25 mins 3.5 mi

PM-- Beast and feast then mid distance run. First off I would like to say that whoever took last in the 4*400m owes Nathan, me, Evan, and Julien doughnuts because we won. Also all of the other races went really well! I think the twinkie race was the fastest I've sprinted in my life. I did not complete all of my minutes today...

25 min 3.5 mi
Tue, 10 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 09, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-09-2018.html
AM-- long run w/ 5min EZ tempo directly into 10 mins @ CV(add 10 secs). Then 5*30sec hills at 1600m effort.

Overall a really fun run but I felt sick all morning. I hammered our CV and almost caught up with the other guys even though my pace was supposed to be slower... heheh. But after the hills I felt pretty sick so I took it in early for 70 mins total.

70 mins 11 mi

PM-- chill run with the crew. Finished at the kiddy slide today.

25 mins 3.5 mi
Mon, 09 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 07, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-07-2018.html
AM-- Today's race went really well! I don't know what exactly what I was thinking beforehand but my mindset was a lot different from before. Coach Robs recommended counting steps and stuff to refocus my race game and that helped a lot when I started to zone out and get tired. I had a lot of fun today and I'm remembering how to really race now! I think it's important to realize that your coaches and team can do everything in the world but until you are racing for yourself, you won't become what you want to be. I only PR'd by like 2 secs but I can see a lot better things in the future, whether it be some crazy-A perfect race or 2 sec PR's like the one today. Afterwards I had to hurry and cool for Preference and stuff and then I dipped.

Today I am grateful for kind people
Sat, 07 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 06, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-06-2018.html
AM-- usual morning w/ yoga

25 min 3.5 mi

PM--Today's races were pretty good! I felt like I was pushing hard and I was pretty surprised when I heard that I didn't PR. It's all good though becase I'm almost there. I just need to transfer everything I have worked at into racing. Overall, just more and more focus. I'm excited for this season though! Nathan and I are on our way to smashing it.

Today I am grateful for the strength my teammates give me.
Fri, 06 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 05, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-05-2018.html
AM-- weights and short run

15 mins 2 mi

PM-- mid d run w/ 6 striders at the end

50 mins 7 mi
Thu, 05 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 04, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-04-2018.html
AM-- nice recovery run

25 mins 3.5 mi

PM-- workout w/ 15 mins warm (5 of which is EZ tempo), 2*800m @ CV, 4*400m at 1600 pace, 4*200m at 800 pace, then hill ciruit finisher.

65 mins 8.5 ish mi
Wed, 04 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 03, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-03-2018.html
AM-- weights and short run

15 mins 2 mi

PM-- mid distance run

55 mins 7 ish mi
Tue, 03 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 02, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-02-2018.html
AM-- 2*5 min EZ tempo, 2*7min tempo, 5min thresh. Long workout run with a solid crew today. It's good to have Julien and others running with us again. Another great confidence booster and I can't wait for Hurricane!

12.6 mi 85 min.

PM-- short run by myself later in the day.

25 min 3.4 mi
Mon, 02 Apr 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Mar 31, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-31-2018.html
PM-- mid distance run by myself with a sick new playlist. Almost got decapitated due to a loose clip but I I'm alive and well now.

15 mins 2 mi

PM-- dank workout of 10 mins warm, 5 mins EZ tempo, 4*800m @ CV pace, and then 3 hill circuits to finish. My legs are so chiseled it's ridiculous. I think more runners should be proud of their buff legs. And by buff I mean super lean and strong.

65 min 9 mi

Today I am grateful for my coaches' insights and experience.
Thu, 29 Mar 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Mar 28, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-28-2018.html
AM-- earlier run of 60 mins. Saw the new school and I feel like an old guy thinking about what that area was like before everyone and their grandma moved in. I miss my old dirt biking trails ); anyways good run but went on the shorter end for today cause I'm really tired. Over the weekend I got a nice tan and I actually really enjoy helping out with track meets. It's also fun to call scrubs out over the stadium speakers.

55 mins 7.5 mi

Today I am grateful for deep thoughts I have while running
Sat, 24 Mar 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Mar 23, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-23-2018.html
AM-- Morning run w/ some yoga

25 min 3.4 mi

PM-- 1600m Race at the 2018 PV Invitational

55 min 7.6 mi

Well bluh. This race was not a PR and in all honesty I did not prepare for it in the way I should have. I was tired, dehydrated, and not in it mentally. I'm actually glad with the time I got considering how lame of an effort I put into it. I just was not in it mentally and I was not having fun. Now that these races are happening I don't think I'll psych myself out anymore. The main thing I'm going to do is eliminate anything that can hinder my racing confidence. Things like not getting enough sleep, water, stretching, etc. Secondly, I'm simply going to have fun and relax. Last year in track I found no enjoyment in the sport at all and I do not want a repeat. I actually really love running and I can't get in a funk again. Lastly, I'm just going to be brave. Brave not only in racing, but in every aspect of my life. In what I believe, who I am, and where I come from. I feel like that's what running is all about. Living and running greatly is something I need to focus on. Living openly and honestly and just relaxing during meets oh my heck. I know that I've put the work in and I deserve it! Nathan and I had a pretty beast talk after our lame races (and they actually weren't that bad for a first race). I feel like there's gonna be a lot of cool things happening from us two in the near future (;

Today I am grateful for how applicable running is to life.
Fri, 23 Mar 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Mar 22, 2018 http://Mychell.fastrunningblog.com/blog-03-22-2018.html
AM-- weights and short run after. I seriously can't miss an alarm again cause that's the worst. the only other time this has happened has been on another weights day so at least I didn't have to catch up on a long run or something...

15 min 2 mi

PM-- Decent swag run w/ crew.
