Today was a beast run! Went out to the middle of nowhere on the arizona strip and decided to take up a dirt road. It was called sunshine trailhead or something like that but due to rain and the time of day I started it was actually pretty cold and dark ); It was super muddy but I found a sick gypsum mine and a wierd tunnel/hole in the side of the hill. I'm positive we ran this trail once before actually in the summer (but last time I didn't find treasure). Anyways I had a tough week because I jumped right back in after being sick. But despite being tired and having sore legs, running has been really fun lately! It's always super rewarding now instead of just trying to survive haha. #perspectiveiskey

PM- 65 mins

So this is another new blog and I hope it actually works this time around.

PM-- Furthest long run yet of track season! pickups 1-2-1-3-1-3 w/ 5 min recovery in between.

This run was super fun and went by a lot faster than expected. Towards the end I was getting pretty tired and my ankle/knees started hurting some but hey I'm comfortable with uncomfort. However I do need to roll, stretch, and ice my ankle because contrary to common belief I am only human. Anyways all of us level 4's (hehe I can say that now that's so cool) crushed it and had fun. (Except for when we waited for Jose to use the bathroom and my legs turned to rock. Only bad part)

PM-- Had the usual pace workout today except with 5*1min cv's instead of 2*(5*30secs). Beast & Feast was before as well.

Today I still felt somewhat sluggish but I met the paces easily. When our dope supergroup formed we didn't miss a single distance (jk maybe 2 but barely off). We all took turns leading and had some epic camaraderie. Stuff of legends.

Today I'm especially grateful for the support I recieved from my team after my family, my house, and my cow was shamed during 6th period. #WWBD. Also, I seriously need to fix my watch and stop copying Colton's blog.

PM-- phew this workout whooped my butt. This has definately been a crazy week on my legs. But as my good friend Xander once said,"pain is only weakness leaving the body to make it stronger". I had to focus on my form a lot while I was tired but I think I zoned out sometimes. But heck my legs are gonna be so shredded it won't even be funny.

AM-- Turkey Farm Road w/ neg split. Went solo on this one and it was my hardest run of the week. At the start of my run my hands went numb (because I'm too stubborn to pack gloves and a jacket with me for some reason smh). Overall I think I did well and had good form. Idk how quality my negative split/entire run was but I figured as long as I was pushing hard and hurting I must be doing an ok job.

I had so fun on this run and it totally flew by. I'm absolutely going to destroy the track this season and long beautiful runs like these get me pumped up to compete. My shins hurt somewhat but I just gotta keep takin care of them. Sure wish our front group was bigger tho...

Today I'm grateful for the opportunity to run and my improvement over the years.

Also, here's some tantallizing and seemingly useless knowledge I learned today: the phrase, "eschew obfuscation" literally means to avoid confusion. Ironic, huh?

PM-- Long run w/ 3*4min EZ tempo (or 4*4 if you're me and stopped to use el bano), 10 mins normal tempo, and 5 mins thresh.

Today I absolutely destroyed the run. I felt like I was going to be sick but then I thought," No I can definitely keep going so I'm just not going to barf", so then my body was like,"K sure whatever dude" And so I continued on, catching up every time I had to stop for a potty break. I then proceeded to obliterate the repeats with swagger.

But in all seriousness this run was a great confidence booster and I felt really strong despite my obstacles.

25 mins 3.5 mi

PM-- So throughout this day my sickness kind of progressed and my legs started to hurt (2 in 1 combo deal which kinda sucked). Anyways I decided to just try running anyways and see what happened. Unfortunately at the end of the 15 min warm up my shins (tibialis anterior) and the back of my knee (popliteal fossa) started flaming up like crazy. It hurt to run and I couldn't keep up once they started the EZ tempo. So yeah I just decided to head home after that... being unable to run really stinks and I hope that this passes very quickly.

That's what running's all about" but it came to a point where it would be foolish to go 80 with a lame right leg. So I used the RICE method (rest ice compress elevate) and gave my shin the doctors treatment. I'm not too worried but if I have another crappy 6 min test then I'll do something reckless and crazy. AM-- well this was probably the most epic run ever. I shall tell thee the tale of my travels

Nathan and I met up at Shinobe Kaibe trailhead and began our journey from there. We ran out of the neighborhood and on to S washington fields road headed south. Then, we hung a left up the ol damn road and took that for a ways. At some point we turned right and, after going through some houses, came up on some desert trails at the foot of the giant hills. We then proceeded to climb them for extra tough butts (the hills are the ones just north of the new southern parkway that goes through Warner Valley). At the top the view was superb. We could see Sand Hallow, Pine View High, Warner Valley, and a magnificient angle of Shinobe Kaibe. Afterwards ran along the top of the ridge and came down the northern end of them and out onto Dam Road once again. After some tricky navigation through junkyards and pure instinct we found ourselves in the middle of the trail known as none other than Roller Coasters. We ran back to the start, then to the end, and then back to the start. After another quick breather (for our buns were on fire as was our lungs) we completed a 10 min fast finish back to our cars parked at the trailhead.

So yeah, pretty dope I'd say.

Well bluh. This race was not a PR and in all honesty I did not prepare for it in the way I should have. I was tired, dehydrated, and not in it mentally. I'm actually glad with the time I got considering how lame of an effort I put into it. I just was not in it mentally and I was not having fun. Now that these races are happening I don't think I'll psych myself out anymore. The main thing I'm going to do is eliminate anything that can hinder my racing confidence. Things like not getting enough sleep, water, stretching, etc. Secondly, I'm simply going to have fun and relax. Last year in track I found no enjoyment in the sport at all and I do not want a repeat. I actually really love running and I can't get in a funk again. Lastly, I'm just going to be brave. Brave not only in racing, but in every aspect of my life. In what I believe, who I am, and where I come from. I feel like that's what running is all about. Living and running greatly is something I need to focus on. Living openly and honestly and just relaxing during meets oh my heck. I know that I've put the work in and I deserve it! Nathan and I had a pretty beast talk after our lame races (and they actually weren't that bad for a first race). I feel like there's gonna be a lot of cool things happening from us two in the near future (;

AM-- 2*5 min EZ tempo, 2*7min tempo, 5min thresh. Long workout run with a solid crew today. It's good to have Julien and others running with us again. Overall really good run except that I threw up for the first time in months... just forgot my medicine so it's cool. Another great confidence booster and I can't wait for Hurricane!

PM--Today's races were pretty good! I felt like I was pushing hard and I was pretty surprised when I heard that I didn't PR. It's all good though becase I'm almost there. I just need to transfer everything I have worked at into racing. Overall, just more and more focus. I'm excited for this season though! Nathan and I are on our way to smashing it.

Today I am grateful for the strength my teammates give me.

AM-- Today's race went really well! I don't know what exactly what I was thinking beforehand but my mindset was a lot different from before. Coach Robs recommended counting steps and stuff to refocus my race game and that helped a lot when I started to zone out and get tired. I had a lot of fun today and I'm remembering how to really race now! I think it's important to realize that your coaches and team can do everything in the world but until you are racing for yourself, you won't become what you want to be. I only PR'd by like 2 secs but I can see a lot better things in the future, whether it be some crazy-A perfect race or 2 sec PR's like the one today. Afterwards I had to hurry and cool for Preference and stuff and then I dipped.

Today I am grateful for kind people

AM-- long run w/ 5min EZ tempo directly into 10 mins @ CV(add 10 secs). Then 5*30sec hills at 1600m effort.

Overall a really fun run but I felt sick all morning. I hammered our CV and almost caught up with the other guys even though my pace was supposed to be slower... heheh. But after the hills I felt pretty sick so I took it in early for 70 mins total.

PM-- Today was super fun! First off I would like to say that whoever took last in the 4*400m owes Nathan, me, Evan, and Julien doughnuts because we won. Also all of the other races went really well! I think the twinkie race was the fastest I've sprinted in my life. I did not complete all of my minutes today...

AM-- Aw heck yea another PR today in the 2 mile! Pr'd by like 8 seconds this time! This race was awesome. Still things to learn of course and still gonna improve. I just need to focus on lap 6 and 7. My splits were like 4-5 secs slower than other laps and if I just stay mentally tough again that's like 10 more seconds off my time! Not to mention getting good sleep (cause I didn't sleep well last night) and maybe trying like a nose strip + wintergreen to help me breathe. I'm just trying all these little things to give me racing confidence (like taking a freaking cold ice bath yesterday but it healed my legs like a babe). Anyways, if I keep this up I'll have a state Q in no time.

30 mins 4 mi of warm and cool

AM-- long run w/ 5 min EZ temp then straight into 10 mins @ CV pace (+10 secs). Finish with 5*30sec hills at 1600 effort. Pretty fun run I must say. Another great confidence builder for the week! My goal is to get more and more sleep these next few days because I feel like I could've performed better if I had rested more (had to stay up for some HW... yeah I know it's dumb). But yup just keepin at it and ready for another good week.

AM-- This was a bad race. I died really hard and my mind just wasn't in it at all. I feel like I let down myself and my team... I can't change it now though so I just have to learn from it. It was just one bad race though. They can't be amazing all the time. I won't let it get me down! Like coach was saying, next race I'm going to just focus on one thing: going fast. Not letting my mind get in the way of what I'm trying to do and having fun. I'm excited for the next race actually! (Jeez I tend to overthink things.)
